Not that's it going to clean-up the mess in Washington or be of any value to the College of Cardinals, but I've decided to resume the Leaning Forward blog today.
It was originally launched as Just the Right Words back in 2008 and gave me a small opportunity to encourage and challenge others as I stumbled through life every day. I've missed it a lot and will resume the daily grind as long as I have something meaningful to contribute to others.
The decison to stop in April, 2013, wasn't an easy one. You see, the death of our son Brian Eliot Holmes on July 18, 2011, is never far from us. Every day my deepest thoughts, hurts, aspirations, prayers, and other emotions bubbled to the surface of my blog. Suddenly there was a sense that something I would write could impede the investigation into his murder and stand in the way of what the Charleston Police Department and 9th Circuit Solicitor's Office was accomplishing in their search for his killer. So, I decided to lay it aside for a brief break.
We're two years down the road from Brian's murder and the case is still working. The individual arrested and charged in his killing was released on a reduced bond after a hearing last week. It's public information now, covered by the Post and Courier. So, there are no secrets to be concealed at this point.
Where are we in this process? Waiting for "due time", the promise of 1 Peter 5:6: "Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God so that he may exalt you in due time". Harriet and I both know He will move us through this grief. Time does in fact make it more bearable. But, we know He will bring us joy in it at some point. We're waiting.
So, I'll be attempting some encouragement here. The goal is to encourage and challenge. I'll try to avoid the rants and won't generally attack anybody, though the truth has a way of landing where it belongs. I appreciate your reading and always look forward to feedback.
Have a blessed day!
